Refund Policy

This Refund Policy outlines the conditions under which Local Secrets XP will issue full or partial refunds. It should be read alongside our Terms & Conditions, which contain the full cancellation framework.

Deposit

The booking deposit is non-refundable under all circumstances. The deposit secures your place and covers administrative costs, reserved capacity, and initial expedition planning.

Cancellation by Participant

If you need to cancel your participation, the following refund schedule applies based on the notice period before your departure date:

Notice Period Refund
More than 45 days before departure 50% of total trip cost refunded (deposit retained)
45 to 30 days before departure Deposit forfeited; no further charge on remaining balance
29 days or less before departure, or no-show Full trip price due — no refund issued

All cancellation requests must be submitted in writing via email or WhatsApp message. The cancellation date is the date we receive your written request.

No-Refund Situations

Refunds will not be issued for the following, regardless of notice given:

Cancellation by Local Secrets XP

In the event that we cancel an expedition due to force majeure, safety concerns, or insufficient participant numbers, we will offer one of the following:

We are not liable for any additional costs you may have incurred (flights, accommodation, equipment, etc.).

Transfer of Booking

If you are unable to attend, you may transfer your booking to another person up to 14 days before departure, subject to our approval. This is often a better option than cancellation as it avoids cancellation fees. Contact us to arrange a transfer.

Travel Insurance

Comprehensive travel insurance — covering trip cancellation, medical expenses, and adventure sports activities — is mandatory for all participants. We strongly recommend purchasing insurance that covers cancellation for any reason, which provides the most flexibility if your plans change unexpectedly.
